Our Process
How we go about your project
The Brief
A project begins with a written brief developed either by the client alone or more often through discussion between the client and ourselves. The brief describes the purpose of the project, and an outline of what is required.
A brief may also set out details of physical or other constraints within which our designers must work, for example the size of the display may be restricted by the environment in which it is to be used. There are often requirements in respect of the amount of stock to be carried.
The Cost
Our design team will respond to a brief with creative ideas. We can produce computer generated visuals and a draft design along with suggestions for materials. A quotation will usually be produced at this stage, possibly with different options for the client to consider.
The Go-ahead
Once the client is happy with the design proposals and gives the "green light" for the project, we carry out the detailed engineering design to turn the vision into reality. At this stage our Project Management team take full responsibility for the project internally, to ensure the work is completed for delivery at the agreed time.
Prototypes
Computer generated images are excellent but there is nothing like a model or a full sized prototype to really enable a client to assess a planned display unit and to enable any changes in specification or design to be made. We have a prototype workshop where a prototype unit can be built and reviewed. Not every project involves a prototype - this depends on the exact needs of the client. (Our photograph demonstrates two models created against one client brief).
Manufacturing
Dauman Displays has the benefit of calling on the vast manufacturing processes available within the PPE Group. Processes include injection moulding, vacuum forming, metalworking, laser cutting, powder coating, screen printing and large format digital printing.
Installation
Not to be forgotten is the process after manufacture. Many projects require more than one delivery of all units to a single warehouse and we have long experience of taking on the distribution and installation of units to, usually, a large number of locations. We use specialist contractors to deliver and install units or in some cases we send our own people to sites.
